Making Space: Recent Acquisitions
November 7, 2025 – July 12, 2026
opening First Friday, November 7, 2025
Donations of art are vital to the growth and resonance of a public gallery’s collection. Historic paintings by regional artists celebrate the area's artistic legacy while offering insight into how perspectives have evolved over time. Works by key figures in major art movements deepen visitors’ understanding of contemporary art history, and a thoughtful emphasis on collecting work by female artists helps create a more balanced and inclusive narrative within the collection.
Over the past four years, the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery has received an influx of donations from Indigenous artists and collectors of Indigenous work that spans generations and media. We are honoured to be entrusted with these works and are committed to holding space for their stories—now and into the future.
