Wyoming, ON – More than 20 local teens who participated in the Take Your Shot: Teen Photo Contest organized by Lambton County Library and the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery will have their photographs on display this summer.

This year’s contest was inspired by the theme Feels Like Home and asked teens from across Lambton County to submit photos that encapsulated the feeling of home through things, places, people or pets that remind them of home or their hometowns. Between May 1 and July 10, teens were also encouraged to attend a spring session at Sarnia Library hosted by national award-winning photographer, Larry Towell, and a three day summer course at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery led by local award winning photographer, Sierra Rei Hart. The contest brought in 58 photo submissions.

A jury made up of industry professionals narrowed the submissions down to 26 photographs that will be displayed alongside a portion of Larry Towell’s work in the upcoming exhibition Feels Like Home: Larry Towell & Inspired Youth, at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery from August 12 – October 8, 2022. Among those 26 chosen photos, a grand prize overall winner was selected in addition to winners in each category: people, pets, places, things. The four winners will receive a professionally matted and framed copy of their winning photo.

Winners include:

• Grand Prize Overall and “Things”: Raveena Duggal, Age 15

• Winner "People": Ky Hopwood, Age 15

• Winner "Pets": Ryleigh Siklosi, Age 16

• Winner "Places": Emily Jahnke, Age 14

Other selected submissions include photos by: Alexa Secord, Age 17, Alexis Sitzes, Age 14, Arden Mailhiot, Age 17, Ava Arndt, Age 17, Brady Long, Age 17, Dylan Hamilton, Age 17, Jarius Dowswell, Age 14, Jasmine Pole, Age 17, Kaira DeFreitas, Age 16, Kaydence Schere, Age 13, Lillian Carsell, Age 15, Madeline Lehrbass, Age 15, Matthew McDonald, Age 17, Mercy Naus, Age 13, Miranda Hurst, Age 14, Myla Bell, Age 14, and Perrin Langille, Age 17.
