Youth Programs
Youth programs are free and designed for ages 6 through 17. JNAAG offers fun and engaging ways for youth to explore art in a creative, safe and inclusive space. Young artist can explore their potential and make new friends through art studio programs or volunteer opportunities.

Spend your Saturday afternoon getting creative! Drop in for a fun, hands-on art activity inspired by the gallery’s current exhibitions. A new artist-led activity is featured each month.

Ages 14 - 18 | FREE | Give what you can | Full session registration is required
Random Acts of Art Workshop (RAAW) is a multi-day intensive workshop designed for teens interested in exploring art making. Led by practicing professional artists, RAAW is the perfect balance of instruction and experimentation. No experience necessary. Participants will have an independent lunch break. Bring a lunch or purchase a lunch downtown.

Ages 9-13 | Free | Suggested donation $10/week | Registration required
Try new things, develop your creative skills, make new friends, and learn from local artists. This two-day program lets youth try different art projects and find new things they love.
Ages 10-14 | Free | Registration required
Art Pod is made just for youth with support needs who love art! Try new art materials, express yourself, and have fun in a safe space. Each month brings a brand new project with trained teachers to guide you.

Ages 13-18 | Free
In partnership with the Lambton County Library, participants aged 13 - 18 are encouraged to take creatively inspired photographs. Each photographer can submit up to five photographs. A panel of industry experts will review all entries and select up to 25 photos to be featured in an exhibit at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery

Bring out your inner artist in this fun and creative two-hour acrylic painting workshop with renowned artist John Williams! You'll learn to paint in the Ojibwe Woodland style, a cool art form known for its bright colours and awesome designs.
In this class, you'll get to paint wildlife, animals, or birds and then add your own colourful and imaginative floral designs. John will show you how to use stencils to get started, but he'll also teach you how to be a more confident artist by freehanding your own unique designs.
This workshop is a great way to learn new painting skills and express yourself. All materials are included, so just come ready to have a blast and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art!
